Meet the (NEW) Assistant Pastor!

Posted by on

Beginning this month, PDCPC welcomes Sid Buzzell to our team of gifted and passionate staff members. We thought you’d like to take a moment to get to know a little bit about him- we think he’s pretty great, and we know you will, too!

Sid has been married to Jeanette since 1964. They have two adult sons- Chris, who is a contractor living in Santa Monica with his wife, Melissa and their three sons, and Jon, an orthopedic surgeon who lives in Omaha with his wife, Joni, and their two daughters.

Sid received a B.A. from Cairn University, a Th.M. from Dallas Seminary, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Michigan State University.

Jeanette earned her B.A. and M.A. from Colorado Christian University.

Sid and Jeanette’s ministry career spans over five decades. Jeanette has worked in various roles in the corporate sector and completed her career by teaching children in Denver’s public school system.   Sid has served as a Seminary and University Professor, Academic Vice President Church planter and Pastor. He regularly spoke in churches, schools and conferences, where he taught the Bible and its practical application to life. He has taught Bible and leadership courses to undergraduate and graduate students at eight different schools and for many NGO’s in the U.S., Africa and Asia. He wrote the commentary on Proverbs in The Bible Knowledge Commentary, was one of the four writers for the Promise Keepers Bible, and was the General Editor and writer for The Leadership Bible and the Handbook to Leadership.

In addition to being the Assistant Pastor at PDCPC Sid is also the Academic Dean of Our Daily Bread University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In his free time, Sid loves to exercise & read. He has been a runner (2 marathons!), cyclist (completed over 500 miles over the Rocky Mountains… three times!), and most recently a swimmer.

Sid brings a wealth of experience and passion to our team. We asked him a few questions about why he is excited to be serving here, at this time in our church’s life. Here is what he said!

Q: If there were one thing you want the people you serve at PDCPC to learn about God, what would it be?

A: To know Him as a personal friend, mentor, conversation partner. Everything else in life is based on how we personally relate to God.

Q: Why are you excited about serving at PDCPC at this time and in this season?

A: It is a time of fresh starts. Whenever someone retires or moves on to another situation - and it was true when I moved on as well - people are asking, “What’s next”? I like being part of exploring the answer to that question.

Q: Is there a unique opportunity you see before our church body at this time?

A: It’s not unique to PDCPC, but I see lots of building going on which means people and families with individual souls will be moving here. I see a wonderful opportunity to provide a new life in Christ and a Bible-teaching, Christ-honoring church to people looking for a supportive community in their new town.

Q: What is your ideal vacation?

A: A week at the ocean- relaxing, reading, walking on the beach.

Join us in extending a warm welcome to Sid & Jeanette! We are so glad they are here.
