Why Donuts are Good for Our Kids: A Thank You Note

Posted by on

Did you know that the donuts you purchase on Sunday mornings do more than provide incentive for an otherwise hesitant child or spouse to attend church? Good news! We are here to assure you that your donut purchases (and consumption) are valid and valuable and even serve a Kingdom purpose!!

As you may know, proceeds from donuts sold throughout the school year go to help send our students to summer camp and so, as our summer comes to a close, we wanted to share with you some highlights from the three summer camps our kids were able to attend at Forest Home Christian Camps, thanks to your generous support.

Natalie Buttemiller, Grade 4, The Village @ Forest Home

Q: What was your highlight from camp?

A: It was all fun but I think performing skit with my cabin mates was my favorite.

Q: What is one thing you learned about God while at camp?

A: I learned that it doesn't matter if you're different or the same God loves us all.

Luke Levine, Grade 9, Creekside @ Forest Home

Q: What was your highlight from camp?

A: Laser Tag & Jesus!

Q: What is one thing you learned about God while at camp?

A: I learned that God puts people in our life to make things easier and to challenge us to become stronger.

Carson Miller, 10th grade, Lakeview @ Forest Home

Q: What was your highlight from camp?

A: At camp you get to meet so many new friends that you stay in touch with. With our group being small, I believe that we were able to connect with others and be there when they needed someone. I also loved the competitive spirit at the competitions and the nighty worships with the deans.

Q: What is one thing you learned about God while at camp?

A: I learned that i need to re-prioritize my life. While its okay to have a passion for a sport, you need to step back and realize that there is something bigger than the sport- your time with God. I enjoyed reconnecting with God, and being up in the mountains with no school or troubles made it easy to relax and be with God.

If you’d like to see a short video clip of the highlight from each camp, you can find them below.

Thank you to all of you for your generous and faithful support of our students’ camp experience. We appreciate you all! #EATMOREDONUTS
