“Making a Difference, One Child at a Time

REICHEL AINSWORTH – PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR

For as long as she can remember, Ms. Reichel has always wanted to work with children. She worked as a legal secretary for 8 years, but in her heart she knew that teaching children was what she wanted to do. She earned her Early Childhood Education certificate as well as home daycare certificate and is currently working on her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  She has over five years of experience teaching in all preschool level classrooms. Before she began working at The Academy of PDCPC, Ms. Reichel ran her own home daycare which she operated for three years until she and her husband welcomed their own three children. She was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest child reached preschool age and attended The Academy.

MS. NICOLE – TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Ms. Nicole has nearly a decade of experience working with children in a variety of licensed child care programs, ranging from infants through fifth grade. Her favorite subjects to teach are math, science, and social studies. Ms. Nicole enjoys challenging her students and seeing the “Aha” moments across their faces as something clicks for them the first time. She believes above everything, children must be encouraged to be independent and confident thinkers. Ms. Nicole was born and raised in the Coachella Valley. In her free time she enjoys baking, traveling, and learning about the world around her.

MS. LESLIE – PRE-KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Ms. Leslie has taught at PDCPC Preschool for 30+ years. During that time, she has served as a teacher, assistant director and director. She received her AA Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Director’s Certificate and a CTA Child Development Teacher’s Permit. Ms. Leslie is well-known for making literature come alive for children. She believes that every lesson can include children’s literature as a key element of success, and she addresses this topic at teacher conferences. Ms. Leslie would be the first to tell you she continues to enjoy teaching now as much as she ever has. In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband (a high school English teacher) and their three children.

MS. ALICE – PRE-KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Ms. Alice has been a preschool teacher for a total of 16 years. Four years ago she chose to go a different direction in careers but somehow she found her way back to doing what she loves- teaching preschool children! Ms. Alice finds great joy in being part of the lives of young children’s early development. She believes that each child learns by getting involved  in everyday activities and incorporating their five senses in the process. She also loves to inspire children to learn through music, rhythm and movement. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, jogging, spending time with family and friends, and of course, playing the drums!

MS. JONTONA - PRE-KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Ms. Jontona has been in the field of early childhood education for 15 years and has earned her Associates of Arts degree in Child Development. She has also worked for elementary schools as Yard Supervisor and Special Education Para-educator. She found way back to preschool and couldn't be more excited! Ms. Jontona believes preschool children have such a fascinating stage of development. They have this unknown curiosity and interest in their world and they are so innocent to what surrounds them. Children need to be in an environment that provides them with safety, trustful relationships, that promotes their creativity with new experiences that expands on their knowledge, simulates their curiosities, celebrates and embraces them and their families. Ms. Jontona loves children's art work! They make some of the best masterpieces and she incorporates their artwork into every area in their environment. In her spare time she enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, weekend walks, Girl Scouting, volunteering and being crafting while drinking coffee!

MS. DEANN – 3’s TEACHER

Ms. DeAnn is currently a lead teacher in the 3’s classrooms. She has been teaching at PDCPC Preschool for over 12 years in both the 3’s and the Pre-Kindergarten programs. Ms. DeAnn is also the music teacher for all The Academy classes. She enjoys bringing her love for music and the creative arts into the classrooms. Ms. DeAnn is married, with a son in college and a son in high school. In her free time she enjoys singing, cooking and watching her sons play sports.

MS. KATHRYN- 3's TEACHER

Ms. Kathryn began teaching preschool about 10 years ago.  She was formerly an educator at the Children’s Discovery Museum in 2016 and 2017 and spent last year teaching 3rd grade.  She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from Cal State San Bernardino.  She believes young children learn best in an engaging hands-on learning environment that includes exploration and the tools to help them become independent, self-confident and forward thinking learners.  She enjoys getting our hands dirty, our minds awake and our eyes wide open because there is so much to see and do!

MS. GENESIS – 3’s TEACHER

Ms. Genesis has been working in preschool for six years. She finished her Early Childhood courses at College of the Desert and was a teacher’s aide at College of the Desert McCarthy Family Childcare for three years. She enjoys interacting with children and getting on their level. In her free time she enjoys visiting family, swimming, and listening to music.

MS. KIMBERLY – 2’s TEACHER

Ms. Kimberly has been associated with the Academy since 2001 when both of her daughters were students. Loving the preschool, she went back to school to become a teacher and started the 2’s class in 2004. After taking a break to raise her family she is back to once again teach the 2 year olds. The twos are her absolute favorite age… she believes that there is nothing “terrible” about them! They are fabulous little learners just waiting to explore their world.” Ms. Kimberly mixes art, hands on, and sensory experiences into the curriculum every week. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 daughters.
