AN ENDOWMENT is a fund that provides an income for future generations for a specific purpose, wherein the principal is invested for perpetuity and only the income from the investment is distributed in accordance with the intent of the donor. Can I restrict my contribution?Donors may direct their gift, bequest or endowment to or for a specific purpose. These are deemed to be "restricted" and will be managed accordingly. |
Advantages of Giving to the Endowment Fund

Absent donor directionUnrestricted gifts and bequests shall be applied as follows: (i) 50% shall be deposited into the Trust Fund with the principal remaining intact unless congregation deems otherwise. Interest from the Trust Fund goes to the Special Project Fund. (ii) 50% shall be deposited into the Special Projects Fund. Expenditures from this fund will be used in accordance with Session policy which currently states: operating deficit; for major maintenance and repairs; and for Christian benevolences or humanitarian projectsHow to Give a Gift, Bequest or Endowment FundGifts to the Endowment Fund may take many forms:SECURITIES are generally deductible at full market value and taxes on the gain may be avoided. REAL ESTATE is also generally deductible at full market value. LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES may be used to designate the Endowment Fund as a beneficiary. CHARITABLE TRUSTS provide the donor with income for life with the assets passing to the Endowment Fund. WILLS AND TRUSTS may be used to designate assests to the Endowment Fund. LIQUID ASSETS such as cash, treasury bills, and money market accounts.
